Left Handed Golfers — Getting Started with the Game of Golf
Being born left handed can be thought of two ways; either a disguised blessing or a curse. You have to cope with things like special school desks and chairs to having to use a set of left handed golf clubs. Sometimes it is such a bother to be a lefty! However, it seems like there are more and more people being born left handed. Take a look in the sports arena. You may notice that there are a lot more southpaws swinging their bats in baseball these days.
When you are ready to buy a set of left handed golf clubs, take your time to find the perfect set that will meet your needs for the long term.
Since there really isn’t much of a demand for left handed golf clubs they may be a little difficult to find. However, the major golf club manufacturers like Nike, Callaway and Mizuno make left handed golf clubs along with right handed sets.
Is it more expensive to be a left-handed golfer? Even though there is less demand for left-handed golf club sets, they are really not that much more expensive than right-handed golf club sets.
If you want to be more like a right-handed golfer, you can buy left-handed golf club sets that are designed and custom made for the individual. To order custom-made left-handed golf clubs, you need to supply the golfer’s weight and height, their gender and the distance from their wrist to the floor. To make the right changes to the left-hander’s golf clubs, you will also have to take these things into consideration: their age, the speed of their swing, their handicap, and what club is being used on the 150-yard mark.
Custom-made left-handed golf club sets are more expensive but it can be worth the money for the enjoyment of the game. Usually the appropriate golf club set can improve a golfer’s game keep him out of the bunkers and get him back to clubhouse in a better mood to met up with his right handed friends.
If you are looking for deals on left handed golf clubs, you would be well served to keep an eye on yard sales around your home. Many enthusiast new golfers go out and buy a new set of clubs just to find that they don’t have the inclination or skill to learn the game. Once these clubs start gathering dust, they will end up finding a new home for their left handed golf clubs.
A major factor in a person’s golf game is the quality of their equipment. A left handed individual should not attempt to play golf right handed simply because it’s difficult to find left handed clubs. It would be best to wait until you can find the right equipment rather than compromising the way you play. An individual that is naturally left handed will never achieve perfection in their golf game by playing right handed.
The basic technique for playing golf is relatively the same whether you are left or right handed. Your grip should be neither too loose nor too tight. You stance should be square, and your feet parallel to the target line. Square the shoulders as well as the hips and the thighs parallel to the feet and the target line. If you want to slice the ball, the swing path should be from the inside to the outside. To hook the ball then the swing path should be from the outside to the inside. And don’t forget to make sure you have access to a decent set of left handed golf clubs.
Have a great time and good luck with your game.
