States Ready To Try The Marijuana Dispensary Model?

Do pot smokers really think they are fooling us by claiming they need a marijuana dispensary to get weed for medicinal reasons? Well, it looks like they did fool the new people in our government. It was the new people in our government who decided to make pot more available to more people. Many states have law allowing the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes. But federal laws banning pot have always been on the books and keeps pot use illegal because the federal law trumps state law.

But not any more because our leader has let all the weed smokers know they have nothing to fear because the feds will no longer prosecute those who use pot for medicinal reasons in states that allow such use. Those who smoke pot to ease their pain are now free to light up.

I know the sickness pot cures. It is called sick of work, sick of school, sick of mom and dad. The sickness that pot claims to relieve is the sickness of having to live sober in our everyday life. I mean who can blame a pot smoker for wanting to ease the pain he gets from his demanding boss. And what student should have to put up with his demanding teachers without being able to quiet his pain with a few bong hits?

So who could blame someone for relying on a little medicine like pot to stop the pain? And if you are a student we all know how unreasonable some teachers can be and how tough those tests and quizzes can be. Who could blame a student to be sick of school? And who can blame a student who needs a little medicine now and again. His medicine of choice might come in the form of a pot joint or a bong hit. But hey he is only following doctor’s orders. And there are no shortages of docs who will write prescriptions for a monthly dose of pot.

I remember reading an article some years ago. It was a satire about our would be new president, Dan Quayle. He signs into law the legalization of drugs including pot. He says as he signs the bill, “let’s give it a shot and see how it works out.” The writer’s subdued insult of Quayle is not lost in the fictional article. Dan Quayle was the whipping boy for his supposed lack of intelligence by those who disagreed with the conservative movement. The writer goes on to paint the terrible effects of legalized drugs that happened because the would be president declared drugs like pot legal.

The blame was leveled on the inept Quayle who at the time, in the fictional article, thought it was a good idea to make drugs like pot legal. Such articles kept Dan Quayle from ever thinking of running for president. If he did he would have been laughed out of the race by those who questioned his intelligence.

However today think our current leader is highly intelligent. He has for all intents and purposes made pot, a once illegal drug, legal. Do not talk about the medicinal qualification, that is only a weak facade. A small piece of paper from an agreeable doc is all that is needed to get high legally.

I wonder where are the writers who poked fun at Dan Quayle. Where is the one who wrote the article predicting that he would legalize drugs like pot writing about the problems such an act would cause. Maybe because the man who legalized pot is so intelligent these writers are saying, “all right let us give it a try.
