President Obama Challenges Students with a Call to Action

In his speech on September 8, the President talked about a number of factors which lead to success in life by valuing strong education. He reminded students to stay in school, do their best and also to respect their parents, teachers and themselves. His message was clear and powerful. In his speech, the President inspired students to want to learn and to want to do their very best. He stressed the fact that no matter what you do in life, you will need to have an education in order to succeed. President Obama also mentioned that while he recognizes the challenges students face which make it hard to focus on schoolwork, students still need to put forth their best effort and keep working hard everyday. He also pointed out that the students are their own future, and that where they are today doesn’t have to determine where they will end up in life. They will be the ones who write their own destiny. The main points can be summed up with the following seven statements.

1. Rise above your challenges, no matter what they are.

2. Respect yourself and your classmates; lend a helping hand when you see someone in need.

3. Respect your teachers and parents. Embrace knowledge rather than fighting authority.

4. Don’t quit, no matter the adversity.

5. Without a sound, strong education, your opportunities are limited for your future.

6. Your success contributes to a strong America.
