Learn Guitar On DVD
If youre pressed for time then learning guitar on DVD from home could be a possible solution. It gives you the freedom to learn at your own pace and to fit your lessons however you like around your normal schedule.
There are some things to be careful about however. Not everyone is good at self instruction and even though you can see and hear the tutor on the screen its really not the same as having private lessons with a real person.
Each student is different and often comes with unique problems and ability to learn the instrument. A guitar instruction DVD is not able to compensate for this and you consequently you may find times when it doesnt succeed in teaching you effectively.
The real benefit of taking guitar lessons on DVD is when you already have some playing knowledge. This little bit of a head start can make all the difference when it comes to teaching yourself from books or DVDs. What most people tend to do is a combination of real lessons plus home material such as books bought from a music shop.
In any case you should always try to ensure that the level of the DVD is suitable for you to learn from. There is no point in trying to do impossible things far beyond your current technical level just the same as something too easy is going to bore you.
Something which is changing the face of all guitar learning is the big rise in online lessons. They are giving guitar lessons on DVD a lot of increased competition for 2 main reasons.
